Study. Learn. Grow.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The human voice as a means of story telling has moved and inspired listeners for centuries and there is an infinite variety of styles and repertoire for a student to explore. As singing story tellers, we rely on the versatility of our instrument to communicate a variety of emotions and ideas not just through the text, but music as well.

I subscribe to the pedagogical approach seeking the balance of breath and resonance to achieve projection, beauty of tone, flexibility, and endurance in singing. Using this as a foundation, a singer has the ability to perform in a variety of repertoire. I believe a versatile artist has a firm foundation in the instrument of their expression.

Each person brings a unique instrument and prior experience to the table and I strive to teach with an approach tailored to their needs. It is my goal to give my students as many tools as possible and equip them to become smart singers, confident performers, and leaders in their musical endeavors.
